A number of years ago, I had a terrifying experience at one of my favorite sea glass spots. I was chased by two men in what I can only describe as a nightmare-like altered reality. This day completely sidelined my beach combing past time, as well as my quest to find THE epic sea glass beach on Maui that I KNEW was out there but still hadn't yet found.

This sad and scary morning led me instead, in a weird meandering way, to a different treasure trove...an old dump (centuries old) filled with hand painted China and beautiful tile, intact bottle, insulators, and glass in every color of the rainbow. While it wasn't sea glass, I still found it mesmerizing and I took it as a sign; one of the darkest days of my life had led me, literally, to a rainbow. I am certain that when we try, we can ALL make rainbows out of rain. We MUST...because that is what it is to be human.

I am always 100% transparent when I use recycled glass vs. sea glass. This recycled art is not an attempt to "pass off" machine tumbled glass as sea glass - as that would erase the importance of this story. Rather, these pieces are a reminder that every dark cloud has a silver lining. No lemons, no lemonade, No trash, no treasure. No rain, no rainbow.
