The sea glass mobile was the very first I made and sold as "The Aloha Shack." They are incredibly special to me and there is so much of me in every mobile I make. I spend hours choosing and preparing the right piece of driftwood, selecting the appropriate sea glass and shell, tying hundreds of knots to secure each treasure, measuring (and re-measuring) the space between them, and stringing each strand so it is just the right length.
To say that my mobiles are made with attention to detail is an understatement. I want every mobile I make to be perfect, so that when you look at it, you feel peaceful, tranquil, calm and captured by its unique and mysterious ocean mana.
The Hoaloha ('beloved friend' in Hawaiian) is 7 strands, hand strung with nylon thread on a beautifully smooth piece of 'v' shape Hawaii driftwood. This particular piece, "Moku," ('island' in Hawaiian) is 100% surf tumbled sea glass in classic Maui tones. The center strand represents our volcano, Haleakala. The next strands represent the rainforest and thick jungle. Next are the strands that remind me of the green grassy hillsides and the cane fields. And finally, the most outer strands represent the clear ocean. It is 18 inches across, 22 inches from wood to glass, 29 total hanging inches (but adjustable up to 58 inches).
Hoaloha is perfect for hanging on the wall or from the ceiling. If hung outside it will sparkle brilliantly in the sun, just make sure to pick an area where it is protected from heavy wind and rain.
A unique nod to a few of the elements that make Maui incredibly special.
