The Boho Bolo Necklace was inspired by an epic piece of sea glass that I found on one of those days when I really needed a special find to lift my spirits. My son and I had gone to the beach one afternoon, but he wanted nothing to do with the water, and was infact demanding that we stay and play in the parking lot. Somehow, I enticed him down to the sand where I could tell the tide was brining up a little heap of treasure, but the waves were far too big for him to play in and he was uninterested anyway. Suddenly, I had a feeling and I said. "Bodi, Mom has to go look in the water. I'll be back in 30 seconds!" I ran down to the sea...and then in about 2 feet of water, I saw it...AND GRABBED IT! It was the most perfect piece of sun purple I've ever seen.
It took me a long time to decide what to do with it. I wanted to make a necklace with it, but I didn't want to overwhelm the sea glass with too much extra "stuff." It had to be just right. I decided on the Bolo style and paired it with an abbreviated cone shell, which had just a touch of purple, and a luxurious fresh water pearl. The Boho Bolo was born...
Each Boho Bolo is made with a unique pair of ocean treasures that compliment each other perfectly...all treasures are ethically sourced (found empty), by me, on local Maui beaches. They are strung on hand braided waxed cord. A small sliding cone shell creates the bolo closure and allows you to wear the necklace with a more staggered and longer look if you wish. A sliding freshwater pearl on the loop end adds just a touch of luxury. Wear the pearl at the nape of your neck for a dose of elegance, or slide it to the front just because you can!
Unique, elegant, feminie and also durable enough for the work and play of an everyday mermaid.
